Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is rush/recruitment and why should I do it?
A: Rush/recruitment is the term used by Greek organizations to describe the period of time in which men or women who are interested in the fraternity/sorority can meet and learn more about its members and values. During this time, fun events are held to help interested students and members of the organization get to know each other. It is a great way not only to get a glimpse of what the organization is all about, and whether or not it is right for you, but also to meet a ton of new people as well!

Q: Who can attend recruitment events/who can join?
A: Any undergraduate female student who is currently enrolled in UCI, and not affiliated with another Greek organization on campus can join!

Q: If I’m not Asian-American, can I still join?
A: Of course! Although we are identified as an Asian-American interest sorority, we have a wide range of diversity in our sisters that does not include just Asian-Americans. Phis welcome and accept every type of person’s unique qualities and experiences.

Q: How much does it cost to rush Phis?
A: Absolutely nothing at all! There is no cost to rushing, and rides are provided to each event as well.

Q: If I rush, am I obligated to pledge?
A: Not at all; there is no pressure to commit or join Phis if you rush. The beauty of rush week is to allow you to get to know the organization and see if it’s a good fit for you.
